Is it normal to shave your private parts?

I'm 18 and I like to shave my private (I'm a girl) because it makes me feel clean and comfortable (also better for doing naughty stuff). Do I overdo it? Someone told me I shouldn't do it unless I'm a p0rnstar or something.. Do other girls do it?
