Need Advice About This Guy!! 10 Points!! Please Help!!?

This guy and I are in college, both run cross country, have alot of the same classes, so we see eachother around alot. We made out/danced alot at a party a few months ago, things got akward but now i'd say were back to where we use to be, not quite friends but just two people who see eachother around alot and are friendly. He came to by birthday party, and actually walked me home even though there were other people that offered and it was completely out of his way. but when we got to my house he didnt hug me, or anything, he only said see ya tomorrow. i have his number and know he's single but i feel like every time i try texting him to show im interested or to be friendly i feel like im being pushy and overdoing it, i dont want to be annoying, but hes always nice and friendy and talks back. i feel like he's too shy/afraid to make a move if hes interested but when can i do??
